Running an older version of Umbraco? Whether you're on Umbraco 7, 8, 10 or 13, we'll get you safely up to Umbraco 17 - the latest long-term supported release - with your content, design and integrations intact. As an Umbraco Silver Partner with two Umbraco Certified Masters, upgrades and migrations are among the things we do most, and we've worked with Umbraco since 2013.

Umbraco 7 to 17

Umbraco 7 reached end of life some time ago, so moving to Umbraco 17 is really a rebuild on modern foundations rather than a simple upgrade. We recreate your templates and document types on the current .NET platform, migrate your content and media, and carry across the integrations that matter - giving you a faster, more secure website that's fully supported again.

Umbraco 8 to 17

Umbraco 8 introduced the modern approach to content modelling, so much of your structure carries forward. The jump to the newer .NET platform from Umbraco 9 onwards does mean templates, packages and custom code need reworking - we handle that end to end, preserving your content and rebuilding the front end cleanly on Umbraco 17.

Umbraco 10 to 17

From Umbraco 10 onwards you're already on modern .NET, so this is a more straightforward, incremental upgrade. We step you up through the versions, update packages and resolve any breaking changes, testing thoroughly along the way so there are no surprises when we go live.

Umbraco 13 to 17

Umbraco 13 to 17 is a well-trodden path - we've even written up exactly how we did it on Umbraco Cloud. Both are recent .NET releases, so the upgrade is smooth: we update dependencies, resolve any breaking changes, and confirm everything works before deployment. (See our blog post on migrating Umbraco 13 to 17 for the technical detail.)

Umbraco Cloud vs self-hosted upgrades

The approach differs slightly depending on where your website lives. On Umbraco Cloud we use the built-in deployment and environment workflow to test the upgrade safely before it reaches your live website. For self-hosted websites - on Azure, AWS, a VPS or on-premise - we set up a matching staging environment, upgrade and test there, then deploy with minimal downtime. Either way, you get a clear plan and a tested result.

How much does an Umbraco upgrade cost?

Every upgrade is different. The cost depends on how big the version jump is, how much custom code and how many integrations you have, and whether you'd like a design refresh at the same time. As a rough guide, a recent-version upgrade (say 13 to 17) is a small, contained piece of work, while a move from Umbraco 7 is closer to a rebuild. Tell us your current version and we'll give you a clear, fixed estimate - with no obligation.
